Graceful Glance with Tasha Long

Today I want to introduce y’all to an amazing lady I have come to know and love! She is an amazing mom of 2, wife and friend! She has a heart of gold and if you have had the pleasure of ever meeting her you already know what I am talking about!!! To those of you that haven’t well you are fixing to know! So without further ado here she is the fabulous Miss Tasha Long!

So as we start this weeks interview off with Tasha I want to give those of you that don’t know her a little more insight on who she is! She is the wife of 5x NFR team roping qualifier Jake Long, mother of 2 beautiful girls (who by the way I simply adore like non other!). They are from Kansas but winter down here in Texas just up the road from me! I am also so blessed to get to take their family pictures every June! Haha! I love when Tasha and I get together it seems like we could talk for days on end we talk about our faith, fashion, her kiddos and just so much more! We have this un canny way of running into each in Starbucks, I think it is starting to become some kind of habit! But let us dig in to Tasha’s interview and tips on how she gets ready for Las Vegas and the NFR!!!

Tasha2(Rare moment of the whole family hanging out at a rodeo! Rare for those of you that don’t know because Jake is normally in the rodeo!)

H: So Tasha as you start to prepare yourself, Jake and the girls for the NFR what is your first priority to pack?
T: Well to be honest, it’s my thieves cleaner! (Which basically disinfectant made by essential oils) I make sure we have enough to clean our entire hotel room and for spills along the way! Then all our needed clothes and accessories!

H: So when packing do you prepare your outfits for Vegas? Or do you just take everything and piece it together out there?
T: Well, I plan ahead so much it hurts! I try to have every outfit planned out down to the shoes and jewelry! It seems rough during packing time, but I feel like it helps me enjoy the process of getting ready each night with ease! Especially when getting my two sweet girls ready to head out!

That makes perfect sense to less stress! I am a taker of all things haha as much as I want to plan my outfits well it just doesn’t seem to work out like I want! But I so commend you for getting super organized and plus I loved helping you pick outfits out too! But back to the interview!

IMG_0524(Tasha and I last year at the NFR)

H: Do y’all do something  while you are in Vegas with your sweet girls, like any traditions?
T: Well we usually get there as early as we can so we have a family day before all the craziness begins! We usually play a few games at the hotel, visit the park, catch a movie and eat where they chose!

Oh my goodness how fun is that! I love that y’all do that! One of the things I always admire about you and Jake is how you guys take time for family! I know that that is super important to you guys as well!

Tasha5 (1)(Another sweet family photo)

H: I know Vegas is a little bit of a haul, how do you prepare for a long trip with 2 kids? Do y’all split it up into 2 days or just load up and try and get there?
T:  To be honest, I have the best two travelers so preparing is easy! They have traveled so much and know the routine! We pack books, games, movies and iPads! Both girls have their favorites and we play travel bingo too! We usually drive it in two days with the first day being the longest. We like to have a shorter drive on the second day to get there and unload! Usually pj’s are how they travel on day one since we start early and end late!
IMG_0534(Haven and Haiz all loaded up and ready to hit the road)

Tasha6(Haizlee won’t forget her favorite book either!)

H: Since we are on the topic of traveling, do you have any tips or advice for long trip and kids for new traveling moms?
T: I feel very blessed that both my girls are good travelers! It does make it easier on a mom when your little ones are happy in the car seat! Starting out is tougher cause kids don’t want to stay buckled the whole trip! We would just praise them for doing so well and take a few rest stops to let them move around! As they get older, you can reward them with new books or games!

That is such a great idea! I hope some of you mom’s loved that advice like I did! By the way be sure and check the link at the end of this interview and I will send you a link to my favorite place to order some AMAZING kid books!!! I have started a collection for both of my baby nephews!

(The girls and their sweet dog Chloe)

H: I know the days during the NFR can be a little hetic for y’all but could you take us through a typical day for you in Vegas?
T: A typical day for us can be running crazy or nice and quiet! It just depends on what we have planned that day! Breakfast is always in our room…so everyone can sleep as much as possible! We usually try and go with Jake at least one day to sign autographs so we can shop a little! Other days we are visiting with family or sight-seeing somewhere if we have time that day! Sometimes we go to the park or take a tram around! Once back to the room, we rest if time allows!! I like to grab a coffee as we head inside to prepare myself to dress three girls! We try to have everyone walk-out ready in time for a quick family picture! Then we head to the rodeo! Jake gets his horse ready and I help if needed! We then enjoy hanging out at The Bistro with Ted and Linda Wiese!

See y’all crazy crazy, it is like that for 10 straight days! Plus for those of you who do not know Ted and Linda Wiese they are so amazing. They cook and support the contestants and their families while at big rodeo events. While offering bible studies and prayer and just so much more! That’s is the short version they are truly amazing people with such a passion and heart for the contestants and their families!

(Tasha hanging with her favorites!)

Now for some fun fashion stuff which is one of my favorite topics of course!!

H: How would you describe your personal style?
T: My style would be semi-dressy with a comfy vibe! I wear pieces that are cute, but still kid friendly!  You never know when some little girl needs carried cause the walk is just too far!

H: Do you have a go-to day outfit that you normally end up wearing in Vegas?
T: My go-to day outfit would be a pair of skinny jeans paired with a cute top and short boots! I actually have day outfits planned also so I can grab and go enjoy the day!

See y’all she is so on top of things I love it! She should get a gold buckle for preparedness! Lol

12108243_1676986715906351_4958412294077737813_n(Tasha and I on Pink Night at the NFR last year!)

H: So what is a must in your purse for Vegas?
T: I usually pack everything, but try to lighten the load for this event! My purse will definitely have baby wipes…they are a must! We eat before the rodeo and seem to find some dirt along the way! I will keep it simple with baby wipes, lip gloss, phone, camera, and rodeo tickets!

H: What is your power scripture you use?
T: One of my favs is Joshua 1:9. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid nor dismayed, for the Lord you God is with you wherever you go.  It is so calming when I say it to myself…no matter what is going on…God is always with us!  I also enjoy Phil 4:13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. It keeps me strong when I am feeling overwhelmed!

I simply love both of those scriptures Tash! They help me on a daily basis as well! Ok just a few more questions you have been so awesome but I just want to give readers just a little last glance into your life! Haha!

H: What is something that our readers may not know about you?
T: Well I am actually a school teach and school counselor!

What?! Wow I don’t think I even knew that haha! Surprise! That is so awesome coming from a family whose has a bunch of teachers I totally commend you!

H: Ok last but not least since we are both coffee lovers? You might have me beat though haha! But what is your favorite coffee to order?
T: This may be the hardest question to answer. I really like coffee! I will drink it anyway or at least try new things! Some days I enjoy sipping on an iced Americano with milk or indulge in a hot misto with toffee! Not too much sweet cause I’m sweet enough…lol!

Haha Tash that is awesome!!! See ladies and gentlemen she is awesome with a great sense of humor! Tasha thank you thank you thank you for taking the time away from getting ready for the NFR to interview with me and let us in on just a glance of your life! You are truly such an amazing woman and I am extremely grateful God has brought us together as friends!!! We speak blessings over you, Jake and the girls as you prepare to leave! I hope y’all enjoyed taking a Graceful Glance into Tasha’s life! So as Haven is showing us work the runway of life like nobody’s business! Let God be #1 in your life and know that you can do ALL things through Him who strengthens you!! Work it girls!

Graceful Glance with Arena de la Cruz

This week’s Graceful Glance is featuring an amazing woman friend and mother. I am so excited to feature one of my dearest friends to ya’ll this week. We met through her sister many years ago and then just hit it off from there and were instant best friends and PICs!! (Partners in Crime!) haha! Not really in crime but we have been known to have some really good laughs! Anyway I am so pleased and honored to introduce you to my bestie…

10340175_523907324387986_2068312870412383550_n(My beautiful Bestie)

Arena is just as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside. She is a mother of 3, an amazing wife, cook, fashionista, roper and all around friend! I love her big heart for family and faith and friends. This week’s interview I wanted to dive into getting to know her and life on the road as a pro athlete’s wife and mother and offer y’all a couple tips and a little insight to life on the road. So without further a do here is this weeks Graceful Glance into the life of Arena de la Cruz.

H: Being a professional athlete’s wife and on the road constantly what are some key essentials you need for all of your travels. (Make-Up/Fashion)

A: For make-up I always wear sunscreen so that is a must for me! I am into green and gold eye shadows, Bad Gal mascara, lip tints and also lip stick. So those are always packed in my trailer. Now for fashion I always have my sunglasses with me! Then I am sure to have my boots, booties, skinny jeans, sweaters, leggings, hats and layering tanks. With the way we travel you never know what kind of weather you will encounter. Really I just take everything that I can. Haha!

(Arena and Emy Davis hanging out a morning slack looking fabulous)

H: What is life like on the rodeo trail with 3 kids?

A:  It all is a little crazy to be honest it makes everything a little more interesting and there is never a dull moment. Going to watch Cesar is one of the hardest parts if it is a perf. I sometimes feel that my kids and I are more entertaining then the rodeo. Lol! I like to take the boys to go do things other than just going to the rodeos. Some of their favorite things are going fishing, swimming, the movies and playing at the park! I try to help make things exciting for them. We like to have fun, they love animals so if we can we do just about anything animal related! I have definitely learned there are other things to do besides just rodeos. But it is very important to me to be at the rodeo to support Cesar on every run. So now matter how hard it is getting there and the kids ready I always make it.

IMG_3908(Shark Attack!!! Camilo and Gio caught a big shark! (Just Kidding))

H: Are there any traveling tips you can give other moms for long road trips?
A: Movies, books, iPads or old phones and lots of snacks are key for me! We also can play I spy for hours lol!

H: What is your favorite memory so far being on the road with your sweet family?
A: Anything we do as a family is fun for me! I guess one of our favorites was all of us getting to spend time together in the North West! I didn’t think I would be able to go with Zorro since he was due August 27th but he came a little early so we all got to be together at the end of the rodeo season! I just want us all together as much as possible. The boys are growing up way to fast and I don’t want us to miss out on any of it!

1 (3)(Arena, Cesar and their kids Camilo, Gio and Baby Zorro)

H: Being a mom of 3 how do you balance taking care of everyone and still have your God time?
A: Well bedtime bible stories are a hit so that is always just a good reminder of His love. It is sometimes just those bedtime stories that I learn the most. But I try to get some God time in before bed every night.

H: What is most important for you to instill in to your kids?
A: God and respect are probably the most important things for me. I feel that they go hand in hand if you apply them. I want my kids to understand that they can be proud of their accomplishments and still be humble and thankful for the opportunities that they are given.

H: With the Holiday season just around the corner what are you most excited for?
A: I just love the Holidays!! Christmas is my favorite and the kids are so excited! It is important for me that they know what Christmas is about. I tell them that Jesus is so cool that everyone gets to open presents on His birthday not just Jesus! It is the most amazing birthday party of all time!!

Ok just a few more questions! Haha!! Thank you so much for taking time out of your crazy busy life to let us take a look into what it is like to be you!!

H: What is one thing readers might not know about you?
A: I am actually a shy person, but I am working on it and trying to be more open, fun and outgoing!

H: What is a power scripture you use to keep going?
A: This scripture has so much meaning in it for me! “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right Hand.”

Arena thank you so much for taking the time to let us take a look into your life tonight! I hope y’all enjoyed tonight’s interview as much as I did. Life on the rodeo road and trail with a family can be hard I know but in the end it is so rewarding as y’all can see! They get to see so many amazing sights and have fun adventures! Though they may face adversity at times they are still together and a family. That is one of my favorite things about rodeo anyway it is all about family! Not only the family you have but everyone out there is family. They help each other when needed and also I know have lots of fun times! So with a little Grace and Style I am signing off tonight’s blog with a big XO!!!
Love all of you fabulous readers! Just know that whatever is standing in front of you you can accomplish anything with Him! Keep the eye on the prize!!!
xo, Hannah Leigh

Graceful Glance with Brianna

This weeks Graceful Glance is with another one of my favorite people! I have been so blessed to get to know this amazing woman over FaceBook, texts and Instagram! We have been gal pals for less than a year but are defiantly kindered spirits for sure! I love when God blesses you with the opportunity to meet someone with a passion and desire similar to yours but still so different that you get a chance to learn and grow because of them! This is what I have found in my new dear friend and fellow blogger. So without further ado I would now like to present Brianna the beautiful face behind Bleacher Babe!

12168108_10207801811946304_1390307626_n(Brianna of Bleacher Babe)

Now that I am have formally introduced you to Brianna let us take a little glance into her life, style, goals and faith!

H: What inspired you to start Bleacher Babe?
B: Growing up in a rodeo family from Alabama, I have always admired the ladies and fashion of the West. Every time I would visit, I always came back with some pretty unique pieces. So many girls would ask me where I purchased them from. I also admired the Pro Rodeo wives fashion as well. Cowboys & Indians Magazine was my Cosmo! I always looked forward to the weekends where I could get all dolled up and strike out with Cole to the rodeos. I would sit with my “bleacher babes” and kill time discussing important fashion, make up and hair tips while trying to maintain my frizzy mane in our humid Alabama weather all while trying to capture the perfect video of Cole’s run! It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it! 😉 LOL! I thought to myself, if only I could connect with more girls!!  I felt like BB would be the perfect avenue to share with all of the ladies resources from the western fashion industry & rodeo world. We were kind of behind here in the southeast. As of now, thanks to so many western fashion bloggers out there, we can all stay updated together. The SouthEast has come a long way in a short period of time.

12170696_10207801817746449_55292544_n

(Brianna stylin’ and smilin’ at another team roping with Cole)

H: How long had you wanted to do BB before you decided to just go for it?
B: BB had been a dream of mine a little over 5 years ago. It all started with Pinterest! I had become hooked on reading Fashion Blogs and thought we needed more for the rodeo girls & girlfriends! I stayed on my Ipad reading fashion blogs, pinning fabulous NFR outfits and connecting with girls like Kadee Coffman that shared the same taste as me! One night Cole finally told me to try doing one for myself! I was so scared, for weeks I put it off. I was terrified of being ridiculed and putting myself out there like that. Cole definitely encouraged me to push through and create one. I am so thankful that he did, because it has been an amazing roller coaster and has opened so many doors for me. I have truly made some amazing friends along the way.

H: What was one thing that encouraged you to keep going when things seemed difficult when trying to start BB?
B: I have to say my fellow bloggers, Hannah Hogner & Adrian Brannan (Adrian Buckaroogirl)! No doubt! Besides Cole and both of our families, ya’ll have been a HUGE support system for me and you will never know how much that means to me. It can be very intimidating and people can be very opinionated. The reason why I love our Western Blogger Community so much is because we are all quickly rising up together and creating a new platform for so many young girls that share the same passion for the rodeo and cowgirl lifestyle as us! Most all of us have come toether to cross promote for one another. We are a voice for the western lifestyle and we all offer something different. We are a team of women who empower other women to pursue their dreams. that’s what keeps me going ❤

H: You really inspire me goal wise, friendship wise and fitness wise and so much more. What is 1 piece of advice you could give readers who have big dreams?
B: God is Great & His timing is precious. DO NOT BE AFRAID OF FAILURE! I have failed 10,000 times in my life but at least I know I have tried. God has a plan and it is perfect. If you want it, just GO FOR IT!!! Do not let people’s opinions be the one thing that is holding you back! You CAN accomplish anything you set your mind to! I truly believe that. Love yourself for who you are and don’t change that for anyone. Be YOUnique!

A little Jeremiah 29:11 going on there! “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil to bring you a future and a hope! Now yall are seeing just why I love this pretty amazing lady!! She’s is awesome right?!!!!

12170744_10207801811666297_2138022862_n(Brianna doing what she does best looking good!

H: Now to get into some of my favorite questions CLOTHES?! What are you most excited about for fall fashion?
B: OMG!!! Although I admire and ADORE the western fashionistas such as Quincy Freeman & the ladies of Gypsy Soule, I am not a risk taker when it comes to fashion…maybe because I would get the weird looks thrown my way living in Alabama. But I commend the bold ladies that do. They are the girls that set the bar for us and I wish I could be more like that. #lifegoals. I do know how to find a good deal! #ballinonabudget. LOL My stye changes by the day! I am seriously digging the grunge look. I love functionality and looking effortlessly chic. I try to channel my inner Jennifer Aniston! The girl looks effortlessly put together, which is perfect for my lifestyle (ropings and running a rope shop). If I could  Mix Tasha Polizzi in with a little bit of Jessie James Decker & Kylie Jenner’s makeup style, that would be my perfect fall look. Big cozy sweaters, motor jackets and biker boots with Squash Blossoms, white tee’s, ripped jeans and flannels. But being the primp queen that I am, my all time fave girly girl look is a Little Black dress, hands down. It’s timeless, classy and minimal chic.

H: Your makeup always looks amazing is there a certain tip you could give readers that you think is key to having a flawless look?
B: SKIN CARE!! It plays a huge role in the outcome of your makeup. Wash your face every night, no matter how tired you are. Drink lots of water. As far as make up I’d have to say finding the right foundation for your skin. But do not use foundation every day.. opt for a BB or CC cream with an SPF instead. Primers are excellent to use before applying your foundation for a smooth fresh canvas. Sephora is really great about helping you match your color. I have tried everything under the sun. My FAV foundations are:
12165815_10207801890028256_1018379143_n  Revlon Colorstay- Full coverage, and affordable. You can purchase this at Wal Mart for around $11.00
12167422_10207801890588270_1851952589_nMakeup Forever HD Foundation- I always use this! It goes on so smooth, not too thick but provides full coverage. You can purchase this at Sephora for around $43.00

12170433_10207801890948279_1953156299_nMarc Jacobs Re(marc)able Foundarion- This bottle of joy comes with a price tage, but a little goes a LONG way! I only use this for date nights or special occasions. My skin is oily so it leaves me with a matte finish with out drying out my face. No cakey residue. This lille darling will run you around $55.00.

12167672_10207801889268237_1580082707_n(Brianna putting the look together and looking fabulously chic)

Once you have applied your primer and foundation, allow it to dry and then apply powder. I recommend Boots No 7 Perfect Loose Powder in translucent. This truly makes all of the difference when it comes to makeup when you have a good canvas to work with. These tips should hook you right up!

Oh goodness gracious I think I need to try!!!

H: You woke up late and have 10 minutes to get ready? What is your quick go to outfit and hairstyle?
B: Flannel Button up, graphic tee, My Free Bird Billy Boots, leggings, bed head top bun (on purpose!… jk not really, but it is what it is, own it & rock out) #iwokeuplikethis

12166735_10207801894508368_610146034_n(Brianna looking Fabulously Chic!)

H: What is one thing readers might not know about you?
B: At 29 years of age, I am just now starting to find myself and learning new things everyday. I didn’t realize that I could ever be thick skinned, or so passionate about things. I have always been afraid to really try anything because I am afraid of failure & criticism. I grew up with low self esteem but through my readers and fellow bloggers I am slowly finding my confidence.

Brianna you are truly amazing thank you for sharing that with us! See ladies we all have struggles in life it is our choice to be the victor of our own lives! We just have to be willing to go for it!! So proud of you girl!

H: What is a power scripture you use to keep going?
B: “God is within her, she will not fail.” Psalms 46.5

Oh how I love that scripture I may need to put that on something now and add it to my ever growing list of power scriptures!!! Love love it! Ok time to start wrapping up tonight’s blog! Last question…

H: What is your favorite thing to do in your down time?
B: I LOVE TO PIN things on Pinterest! It’s seriously an addiction that I need to seek help for! I also love to cook, workout, Team Rope, primp for date nights and do yoga in my down times.

12167593_10207801921709048_1094312421_n  12165945_10207801922789075_1669335137_n(Brianna showing us how it is done in the arena! A girl with skills right here! #EnterUp)

Graceful Glance with Quinn

This Graceful Glance is with one of my favorite people Quinn! She is more like a beautiful little sister to me! She is amazing and talented in so many ways! I wanted to highlight her talent with hair and her heart for God in this interview! So with that said and so much more to say I would love to introduce you to Quinn!

IMG_4047

When Quinn started cosmetology school I remember her quick talent for it on one of our girl days! I would take pictures of her and she would show me something with my hair! Perfect trade right? Right!!! She is beyond talented and now a few years later she has started her business Made Beautiful-Hair Couture by Quinn! First off I am beyond proud of her and her accomplishments when I saw this picture on Instagram one day and was just awe struck!  The intricate look this has was just stunning to my eye!

IMG_3623(Wedding/ Event Hair Done By Made Beautiful-Hair Couture by Quinn)

Amazing Right?!! Yes I know just ahh-mazing! Ok well let’s get into the interview part of this fun blog!

H: What inspired you to start doing hair Quinn?
Q: I didn’t know this was what I wanted to do growing up. I knew I loved anything that involved being creative and of course fashion and beauty; but it wasn’t until I got to do my first up-do on somebody that my passion for hair styling really grew.

IMG_7850

IMG_4088(Wedding/Event Hair Done By Made Beautiful-Hair Couture by Quinn)

H: What is your favorite part about doing a wedding or event look for somebody?
Q: My favorite part about being a bridal hairstylist is being able to make these girls look and feel their absolute best on the most important day of their lives.

H: What is your favorite way to wear your own hair?

Q: Although my job is to make other women look fancy, I typically like low-key styles when it comes to my own hair. Loose waves and chic ponytails are my go to’s!

H: Not only do I just adore you and your talent, I also admire your style! What are you most excited to wear this fall and how would you describe your personal style?
Q: Anything that’s warm! A skinny jean with high boots, a cute sweater and infinity scarf is my go to style for fall. I am also loving vests lately! My personal style is different from day to day. Some days I will be running around in a fancy dress with heels and the next it will be pants and a loose top. But overall I am typically drawn to anything that has a dressy flair to it but is also comfortable and functional for whatever I am doing!

H: You inspire me daily and are always lifting others up around you. We both have had some amazing influences in our lives one being our parents who have helped us put God first daily, what is your go to power scripture and why?
Q:  Philippians 4:13! This one always reminds me that in God’s power and with His strength I can conquer all things big and small that might come my way!

I am so beyond grateful that Quinn was able to stop in and join us for a closer look into her business and life. Thank you Quinn for inspiring us all to strive for our dreams, goals and desires of our hearts!  Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path!” Thank you again you are truly amazing and talented in so many ways. Love you chica!
Thank y’all for joining me on this Graceful Glance Interview with Quinn! Remember Keep stylin’, smilin’ and lovin’ God with a little Grace & Style!

Graceful Glance With Katherine!

I am so excited I am going to start a strand of interviews called Graceful Glance! So we can glance into the lives of some of my favorite people with y’all!! So here we go the first Graceful Glance into Katherine’s life and style!

So this past Sunday I was so blessed to actually be home and get to go to my home church! (Silverado Cowboy Church/ Weatherford, TX) I absolutely love it there and I love all the people, we are like this big family!! I have noticed a certain special someone the past few times though up on stage with the worship team. My heart truly sores to get to see one of my friends daughter’s up on stage rocking out with her bass guitar. She is seriously awesome, I am so proud of her and her boldness to get up on stage and join them. This Sunday though after they finished up she went to walk off stage and bam! Here is this awesome outfit (posted below) that she is rocking! I really love her style and uniqueness! So this week I decided to feature her on my blog!!! Of course when I asked I had my fingers crossed she would say yes because I wanted to share her awesomeness with all of you!!!  So with all that said ladies and gentlemen I would like to introduce y’all to Katherine!
She is a sweet and beautiful 9th grader who attends my awesome church! Katherine plays the Bass Guitar in our praise and worship team. She says that being up on stage with them is very good learning experience for her! One of her favorite worship songs to listen to is My Lighthouse by Rend Collective. I really like Katherine’s spunky style and have asked her a few questions about it. So here we go….

H: How would your describe your style?
K: Always changing; always growing.

H: When picking an outfit what’s your inspiration?
(I love her answer to this question!)
K: Marie from the Aristocats.

(I so love this answer haha if you are a lover of fashion y’all defiantly know that fashionistas and designers get their inspiration from anywhere! From old movies, from an old hotel or just anything. They are artists and let their surroundings be their inspiration! Kind of cool I have to say that she sent this to me as her inspiration! Go Katherine!)

H: Ok Katherine, you woke up late and have 30 mins before you have to leave? Quick what do you do?? (Hair, makeup, outfit)
K: Foundation + mascara. Brush and straighten hair. Jeans + t-shirt and converse.

(Gotta Love A Girl Who Wears Converses!)

H: Ok, last question, what is your favorite scripture?
K: Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. (Luke 10:3 KJV)

Thank you so much Katherine for letting me feature you on tonight’s blog post! You are truly a remarkable young lady with such an amazing path ahead of you! You have got some big things ahead of you I know and you will conquer them all with Grace & Style I know for sure! Thank you to all my fans as well for tuning into my first Graceful Glance Interview!!!

Faith Comes By….

This past Sunday I was so honored to do a church service in Waco, TX at the USTRC Regionals. The message God laid on my heart to share was about Faith! I talk a lot about faith when I speak, in a way we all talk about faith a lot. We will say just keep the faith or have faith you will get through this or that. Faith is what keeps most of us going, but to some they hear this word but yet they do not know how to get faith. Sometimes we may even forget from time to time how to put our full trust and faith in Him! In Romans 10:17 it simply says “So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God”. So here is an example of a man who had faith to be healed. In Acts 14:7-10

“And they were preaching the gospel there. And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had the faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet.” And he leaped and walked”

Wow is all I have to say! So take this in some people may say Paul healed the man. But that isn’t correct the man’s faith healed him, because he heard the gospel! (Faith comes by hearing!)
So Paul did 3 things
1. Preached the gospel
2. He saw the man that had faith to be healed
3. He told the man to rise up and walk.
In return the man did 3 things
1. Heard Paul preach the gospel
2. He had the faith to be healed
3. He leaped up and walked

I wanted to share this with you because whatever it is that you are needing faith for today you need to know how to get it. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. We need to be digging into His word and spending time with Him. I was so blessed to be around an amazing man of Faith! My dad! Watching him as I grew up and the faith he had from digging into the word has helped build my faith. I now know that My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches and glory by Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:19) I know He will because I know His promises! We gotta dig in and start hanging out with Him. The more we do the more He will rub off on us! So we won’t have to stop and think what would Jesus do we will act more like Him. Because we have spent the time with Him and we will the faith and 100% trust in Him and His word. I know there are many people around me struggling in areas personally. Just know I am praying for all of you! I wanted to give you a small reminder today of how to help get and keep that faith! I want to you to be prosper in all you do and all your relationships! I want to encourage you today not to give up you can do this! God’s got your back! Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.”  So rock what you got with some grace and style!!!

Summer Lovin’

Oh what a summer it has been! It has been a beautiful amazing busy summer! I can hardly believe it is August already! What? Really? YES! At least the bonus part about it being August is yes it is my birthday month! This year I turn the big 3-0 but possibly contemplating the 29 again haha! Just kidding! Age is just a number I have always said that so I am deciding to hit it straight on! I defiantly don’t feel almost 30 and people never think I am this old so my awesome Cherokee Blood is shining through! Hehe! Anyway enough about my birthday we still have 19 more days to talk about it! This summer my amazing nieces came to visit! In June my oldest niece Stephanie and her twin sisters Becca and Jodie came to visit! The girls would go to concerts and church services with us and would have just a blast. We had a lot of late nights of playing my favorite game Pass The Pigs! One night one of the twins decided she was going to pray for a good roll and it worked! So needless to say the other one decided to do it too. So this went on a little while and then Becca was praying for a certain number to roll and low and behold she rolled it! So I took the opportunity to talk to them about praying and salvation. Which in turn led to them asking the Lord into their hearts that night. Stephanie had already done it when she was younger and I also got to be there the day she did it as well and not to mention Megan their sister also did to when she was younger. It filled my heart with overflowing joy to get to help them with the salvation prayer and watch God work in their sweet little lives. We began to pray every night before they left. The twins ended up staying the whole month of June! I was one happy, happy Auntie for sure! Then Magen came to visit us in July for 2 weeks! It was such an amazing time and also to get to realize how big she is actually getting! In December she will be 16! Nooooo lol the time has gone by to quickly! So she and I soaked it all in for sure!!! God has been so good a faithful to us (me and Nannie aka Momma Jo) this summer! There have been some times where we have had to look at each other and said God has got this, this summer. He has always come through for us and always has our back! I am also so so so excited to announce as well that Momma Jo was just nominated in the top 10 for the Inspirational Country Music Awards Female Vocalist Of The Year! We just found out last week! She is absolutely so humbled that her peers (other Artists) and DJs playing her music would nominate her! So that is about it in a nut shell for the summer! We have done lots and loved lots and made a ton of memories! Which are so important! Always know God first! Family second! Then your jobs! Don’t forget to take a timeout for yourself and your family! Always take tons of pictures to help remember those special memories so you can remember when and pass along the stories through the generations! Below are some of mine from this summer!! Remember to live with Grace and Style!

Beauty Amongst  The Chaos

Well I’m a day late but better late than never. Things have been a little crazy at my house lately. We run here run there do this do that, help here or there. I am sure you feel me on this! Lol! But yesterday slipped away from me faster than I knew and then I had the opportunity to go to a friend’s baby reveal party! Which was beauty amongst the chaos! Actually I have found those little beauty spots or God kisses in everyday. Sometimes when we are in the midst of a storm when need to stop and remember to see the blessings in everyday. Most of the time they are there in plain sight!  We need only to be still and know that He is God, trust in Him and see happiness! Here’s a sweet example! Yesterday I was busy working on my computer  then I stopped had a mini photo shoot, came home made lunch was about to go clean up. Then I heard it! Nannie aka Momma Jo was changing my nephews diaper and she was singing him a song from his favorite cartoon. Deuce my nephew would just laugh and then she would laugh so in return I laughed. It was such a sweet moment to listen too and filled my heart with joy. I only needed to stop and take it in. See beauty amongst chaos! Today and the rest of the week cast your cares on Him! Trust inthe Lord with all your heart lean not on your own understanding and in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path! Proverbs 3:5-6 I love yall and speaking blessing and God kisses into your life today and everyday!

Derby Fashion!

Oh my goodness probably my favorite races of the year is the Kentucky Derby for a few reasons! One my parents gave me such a love and respect for race horses. I love watching them and yes Triple Crown winner Secretariat is hands down my favorite race horse of all time.

I love his story he was such an inspiration to so many during that era. But anyway back to the famous Race for the Roses!! Obviously my second reason I love the derby is derby fashion! I look forward to all the outfits and hats! And oh the hats some are a site to see haha!
Check out this crazy hat!

kentucky_derby_hats_03

Some people take it to the extremes but Hey at least she looks like shes having fun right? Haha I love the obviously more classic looks. But on a more serious note lol! Derby fashion goes way back! Colonel M. Lewis Clark Jr., (the founding father of the Kentucky Derby), envisioned the racing environment to be comfortable and luxurious, an event that would remind people of European horse racing. For a well-to-do in the late 19th and early 20th century woman, a day at Churchill Downs, especially on Derby Day was an opportunity to be seen in the latest of fashions. A journalist from a 1901 Louisville Courier-Journal stated, “The seats in the grandstand were filled with gaily dressed women and men. The mass of green, pink, red, yellow, blue, all the colors of the rainbow, blending into one harmonious whole was as beautiful a sight as His Eminence in the lead.”

In the 1920s, women at the Derby could be seen wearing a dress or perhaps a more modern suit, complete with a jacket. Some of the1920s jackets were roomy and accommodating, others were fitted. The hat and gloves were still very much in fashion. The 1930s and 1940s followed in the same vein, with option of a dress or suit; in fact, in the 1930s and 1940s the formal suit seemed to be more popular than the dress.

(1940’s Suit)

In the mid-to late 1960’s though the Derby was still viewed as a most respectable event and women continued to dress as such, a change had occurred. Now Millionaires Row had opened, society women wore increasingly louder hats and took pride and enjoyment in selecting one. This trend of bigger, more spectacular hats might have developed due to the fact that while society was loosening its grip on the hat and glove formality, the Kentucky Derby offered women a place to continue the old traditions. Patterns and prints were also brighter, and hemlines defiantly were raised, yielding a much different look than years before. In the 1970s and 1980s was a return to the longer skirt, while the same casual attitude of the 1960s was still in place. From the 1990s to today, the dress at the Derby is slowing replacing the suit, especially with younger women. While gloves are out of fashion, a hat never is, and they tend to get wilder and more expensive every year!

Ok yes I didn’t write all of this and got most of my information on this topic from the Kentucky Derby Website. But I tried to condense it for you so it would be a quick and easy fun read on Derby Fashion since the race is just days away! Here are a few of my favorite present day derby outfits!
