dsc_5248-2(Top/Choker/ Buckle from Redford Ranch)

Hey my amazing readers! I am so excited for our 2nd Annual Countdown to Vegas! We are 6 days out from the Wrangler NFR and who is ready for a fun year or Rodeo, Fashion and Friends! This girl right here is! I think Western Fashion has really exploded over the last year and I am really excited to see everyone and see all the amazing fashion brought by totally fabulous women! One thing to remember ladies is to stay true to who you are and just rock your amazing self!! As we kick off this countdown instead of going last I thought I would go first this year! Here is my must pack necessities to survive Vegas! Especially if you will be out there for the whole duration!

First off Blister Band-Aids
Girls yes these are the key to survival in heels in Vegas. If you know where your heels will rub go ahead and put one of these bad boys there before it gets bad, you will be glad you did. Find at Walmart/ CVS/ Walgreens

450
 2 Epsom Salt
This is amazing for all those long days on your feet especially you beauties that are working. Take a soak in this to help the soreness or even just your feet!
Find at any market/ drugstore (You can get when you get out there to there is a CVS right next to the Thomas and Mack on the corner of Harmon & Paradise)

epsom-salts

3 Bobby Pins/ Clear Elastics / Safety Pins
Haha seems like a duh but its always nice to go ahead and stock up on these because well they are kind of like socks they disappear fast lol!

musts

4 Inserts for your shoes/heels
There are a few different kinds depending on what you need but these honestly really help save your feet. Choose the one or ones where there is the most pressure applied to your foot and I promise these will not disappoint! Save those feet you need them until you can wear those Uggs all the way home when you go on a fashion strike! lol!

5 Eye Cream/ Eye Cloths
These are a couple of my personal essentials from Rodan +Fields! These are life savers to me girls! Especially the eye cloths double as a makeup remover and the eye cream helps keep you and your eyes feeling and looking fresh and takes the puffiness away! If you need some holler at me!

s-l225

6 Chapstick/ Lip Moisturizer
A great moisturizer or chapstick is super great to have in the dry weather of Vegas to help keep your lips staying hydrated and not to look chapped or cracked! My favorites again I sell with Rodan + Fields!

rodan-and-fields-redefine-lip-renewing-serum-10

7 Little Umbrella
I know you are thinking really? This girl must be crazy now, but I promise Vegas weather is seriously unpredictable you never really know exactly what it will be like and one of these little guys might just save that beautiful hair do you spent an hour curling or working on. Plus it fits right in your purse and is super nice to use running in and out of trade shows and the rodeo if it is raining or snowing. (Yes I did say snow it has done it 2x before I’m telling you predictably, but watch it be a year it doesn’t rain or anything. If it does I promise you I’ll be prepared!)

img-thing

8 Mini Sewing Kit
I think this is a given why you need this little guy, you just never know, always be prepared I like to say!

9 Fold Up Flats
We all know those heels are not comfortable forever and sometimes a heel breaks or you just never know but packing a pair of these will help save you for those just in case moments. ( This is just a simple easy brand but you can find a bunch online even Amazon! But this pair is like $6/7

10 Last But Not Least Fashion Tape
Ok ladies! Yes this is great to have to help you stay classy for those low cut blouse or even to help keep things in check! No uh oh moments! Haha!

Fashion Friday Jesus Loves Me

DSC_0077
Happy Fri-Yay Y’all! Plus it’s a 4 day weekend for some yay! I am headed to Tunica, MS this weekend to do a church service at the USTRC Regional Team Roping! I am so pumped and if your around come join me at 6:30 am! I’ll sing to ya! 😉 I love heading over that way because the scenery is just gorgeous to me and always reminds me how amazing God is! Just think, the guy that created this world created you! Wowza that’s big!  He literally thought the world needed someone like you in it, that is just so amazing to me. So when you are down and things seem to get hard or like you can’t go on. Just know it’s the devil trying to bring you down, just as John 10:10 says…”the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy, but I (Jesus speaking) have come that you may have life and life more abundantly.” That right there should prove to you how much He loves you. So keep your chin up tell the devil to leave you alone. Then shine on oh beautiful one with all the Grace & Style you possess!

Fashion Friday Birthday Time!

IMG_5206

Hey my amazing readers! So as some of you may know Sunday was my 31st birthday and yes I decided to keep celebrate it this whole week long! Even at this very moment I can smell the yummy confetti cake Momma Jo is baking me  in the kitchen. (It’s been a crazy week so we are just getting to have cake but I will celebrate life any day!) Let me tell you it is a mouth watering smell! But let me get back on track haha Birthday Fashion not food! Haha! As I was deciding what I wanted to wear to kick off my 31 years of life I decided I would go with my favorite clothing color black! You really just can not go wrong with black it is always slimming but it is just fun because can pair any other color or colors with it for some fun outfits! So for my base piece I went with my new black jumpsuit from Redford Ranch Style. Then to add some pop of fun a statement necklace from The Rollin’ J Boutique. I paired the necklace with my new fun birthday earrings I got from my Bleacher Babe Squad sister Carly and topped the look off with a feather hair clip from my bestie!  That yes I did get for my birthday!! ( I also have in gold! 😉 Then I topped the whole look off with my MAC lipstick “Heroine”. It is a super fun special occasion kind of lipstick! I love birthdays anyone really because its a celebration of life that God blessed us with! Yes we all have our ups and downs and trials we all go through but what is awesome is we get to wake up to a new day each day! So get out there ladies and gents and ROCK WHAT YOU GOT with all of His Grace & Your Style!

Graceful Glance with Ritzy Gypsy

TODAY ON LIVING IN GRACE & STYLE’S GRACEFUL GLANCE

unnamed (5)
Good afternoon my Living In Grace & Style readers! Today is Monday which means it is time to introduce y’all to another amazing Graceful Glance Interview! I am really excited about today’s interviewee! I love when you meet someone and you just click! That is exactly how it is with this boutique owner. She is simply amazing and has a heart of gold and I actually can not wait to meet her in person. Haha! Her story is so inspiring and we hope it inspires all of you! So with that let me proudly introduce today’s interviewee owner of the Ritzy Gypsy Boutique Cara Little.

unnamed (1)
(Cara and her husband/ Cara is rocking those amazing Ritzy Gypsy Boots!)

H: How did you come up with the name Ritzy Gypsy Boutique?
C: The name all came about one day when I was talking to my husband about what I would call it. I said something with Gypsy because our friends call us rodeo gypsy’s because we love to be on the road going to the next rodeo, or going anywhere really. Then all of a sudden he said Ritzy, so there it was Ritzy Gypsy.

(I love it! I love when it just pops up like that!)

H: How long have you had your boutique?
C:  I am going on 2.5 years!

H: What or who inspired you to start Ritzy Gypsy Boutique?
C:  I  always knew I wanted to be a business owner. My mom owned a few successful businesses when I was growing up. Her main one was a feed/western store. She had that one for 16 years so I pretty much grew up there. I used to love going to market with my parents as a child. I knew one day I would own my own business, it was always a dream of mine. You know, God says He will give us the desires of our heart, He really does!!

(Yes He truly does! I love that you followed your heart and never gave up on your dream!)

H: Did you have to seek any advice from anyone to get started?
C: My dad is very business minded so I picked his brain quite a bit.

H: Who has been your biggest supporter?
C: My precious husband. He never discourages and always supports me and cheers me on no matter how crazy the idea may be, and believe me I have some crazy ones!

unnamed (4)
(Cara and her beautiful family all dressed up look snazzy!)

H: What inspired you design your one of kind Ritzy Gypsy Boots?
C: My boots are a true work of the heart. There is just something about vintage cowboy boots. When I am looking for a pair to design I might look through 50 pair and I know the exact ones I want. I love how they feel when I am working with them. That worn leather, and that leather smell is inspirational to me. I never know what exactly I am going to do until I sit down to work on them and the design just comes to me. And oh the stories they could tell if they could talk.

(Wow I truly love that Cara! It’s like they already have a story and a past but then you pick them up and give them new life and a beginning to a new story! I simply love that! Almost like what Jesus did for us so many years ago!)

unnamed (16)

(I might be smally obsessed with this pair of boots right here ladies and gentlemen!)

H: What challenges have you faced and how did God help you get through them?
C: Obviously being a rodeo/home school mom, wife, ministry leader and business owner is challenging. Trying to balance it all is very difficult I couldn’t do it without God. And when doubts creep in from the enemy saying I can’t do it, or I am going to fail I just lean on what God has led me too and seen me through and know I have to keep going. I see Him work in every aspect of my business.

(Cara’s amazing kids Rodeo Ready!)

H: What is a scripture did you stand on or are standing on while building your business?

C: “Many women do noble things but you surpass them all” Proverbs 31:29
“God causes all things to work for the good of those who love Him, those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

H:  What is some advice would you give someone who is just starting a new business?
C:  Never give up! It will not be easy but if this is your dream, keep going and never quit! Pray and ask God for wisdom, seek Him and He will be there.

H: Cara is there anything special on your heart that you would like to share with our readers today?
C: I think all women no matter size, shape, or color should feel absolutely beautiful! God created each of us to be exactly who we are,  no one else. I want to create designs that do just that. Make women feel confident and beautiful. I work with an outreach ministry and we rescue and rehabilitate underage girls who have been victims of sex trafficking. They have been through unimaginable things, My calling in that is to show them that no matter what they have been through, God made them to be exceptional and amazing. He can make all things new and we are beautiful and perfect in His eyes. My theme is Be Uniquely You!

(Cara you are truly just amazing and so very inspiring to many people including myself! I will be praying for you and all of the girls.)

unnamed
(Being Uniquely Cara & I simply love it & her style! Click here to order her amazing Bolo)

H: How would you describe your personal style?
C: Boho/ Western. Can I just say I am loving seeing the 70’s styles coming back. Bell bottoms, bell sleeve tops, floral patterns…I adore them!

(Girl me too!)

H: What is your favorite go to outfit or style?
C:  A great pair of skinny jeans, Ritzy Gypsy Boots, a cute graphic tee and lots and lots of my jewelry! Oh and one of my buckles too. I am definitely a blue jean loving girl so flare jeans and cowboy boots are a main go to also.

(Yes girl yes! Ps I Love your Ritzy Gypsy tee line especially this one!)
(Click her to see more!)

H: What’s your fashion weakness?
C: Oh wow I have a few huge weaknesses. Jeans, shoes and makeup, these are really obsessions of mine I must admit.

(Haha I think you just summed most of mine up in this as well!)

H: Who is someone you look up to fashion wise?
C: Cher from the 70’s definitely. She had the coolest style. Furs, bell bottoms, squash blossoms, she had an amazing boho style that I love!

H: What is a 1 piece of advice you could offer readers about fashion before we wrap things up?
C: If you like it, wear it! You should never worry about what anyone thinks about what you are wearing. If it makes you feel good and confident, go for it!

I truly  love it! Haha See readers don’t you agree a heart of gold right! Cara thank you so very much for taking the time to be a part of our blog series. I am truly grateful for you to share your Grace and Style with us today! I am defifintly adding you boots to my want list that seems to be every growing as well as praying for y’all’s ministry with the girls. You are truly a world changer girl! I hope y’all enjoyed this interview just as much as I did!!

Hannah Leigh

Graceful Glance with Dear Paisley

I am so glad y’all are back or just joining us for Living In Grace and Style’s fun series called Graceful Glance! Where I interview extraordinary women on their journey to accomplishing their dreams and hearts desires. As well as showing how they do it with God by their side! We will also talk about their personal fashion style! So with that I could not be more excited than to introduce you to today’s interviewee Whitney Allard owner of Dear Paisley!

image1
I simply met her through Instagram we just seemed to click and hit it off from the beginning especially having similar fashion tastes and loving God didn’t hurt either. So let’s dive into this fun interview with this amazing woman with a heart of GOLD!

logo
H: How long have you had Dear Paisley?
W: We are fairly new, we opened up July 1 of this year!

(Oh wow that is awesome! I completely adore your style sense and lines of clothes you have!)

H: What or who inspired you to start Dear Paisley?
W: I have always had a love of fashion and a love of putting outfits together. When I graduated high school I knew I wanted to own a boutique one day.

H: Did you have to seek any advice from anyone to get started?
W: When I first thought about doing this, I really just took it upon myself to figure out what I wanted to do and how I wanted it done. It may not be the right way, but it’s been the best way for me so far…my motto through it all has been “wingin it” hehe. A family friend has offered me great advice on being your own boss and making your dreams a reality.

(Whitney that is truly amazing and shows your heart! I tend to use the “wingin it” method from time to time too! Sometimes you just have to do all you can and roll! Haha! )

H: Who has been your biggest supporter?
W: Definitely my husband and my family. They have stuck behind me through everything and have cheered me on the entire way. I call my mom daily and ask for her opinion on things and she is always more than willing to help me out.

(I love it there is nothing like the support of those closest to you!)

image5
H: What are some of your favorite products in your store right now?
W: I love all the bohemian jewelry that we have, if I could own one of each…I WOULD! I’m totally lovin our Tye Dye Fringe V-neck and all of our graphic tees (I’m a graphic tee JUNKIE)

(Whitney we might be soul sisters for real! I love a great graphic tee you can style it to any vibe you want!!)

image6
(Click Here To Order This Tee)

H: What challenges have you faced and how did God help you get through them?
W: My biggest challenge has been getting the word out about our website. I have been praying every single day that God will open doors for me and literally over night I had 2 opportunities that I could not pass up. Hannah being one of them when she contacted me about doing this blog. She truly was an answered prayer and I will forever be grateful!

(Oh that blesses my heart Whitney! I am so glad God brought us together through Instagram! I truly adore your boutique and you as well!)

H: What is a scripture have you stood on while you were starting Dear Paisley?
W: As I was praying one day I remembered a verse “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8. I love this because I want to be a blessing with this business. I want to be able to look to God to provide for me so that I can help be a blessing to someone in need.

(Oh how I love this scripture it reminds me of a term my dad used to say! Blessed to be a blessing! I love it!)

H: Do you have something you would like to share with our readers?
W: I would want to tell anyone with a dream, GO FOR IT!! Nothing is too big or too small for God. He wants us to live out our dreams. Our Pastor recently posted these words on Facebook “No freshly spoken Word of God that comes to you will be impossible. It comes to you with the power to produce results all by itself! ‪-Scott Johnson” I believe that with my whole heart and it gives me such joy to know that God wouldn’t give us dreams just to watch us fail! So start chasin!!!!

I truly believe those are some wise wise words! Readers don’t ever give up keep chasin! Be those Goal Diggers! Thank you so much for sharing with us about Dear Paisley and how God has helped you start to build a business! We could probably go on and on but let’s change gears for a minute and talk about your personal style!!!

H: How would you describe your personal style?
W: I love anything bohemian right now. That look is absolutely adorable and super fun!

H: What is your favorite go to outfit or style?
W: I’m a total sucker for a good graphic tee, a duster, and some distressed jeans with booties.

(Can I just say “AMEN SISTER! Haha!)

H:  What’s your fashion weakness?
W: Anything turquoise and I love comfy tshirts, the possibilities are endless with a good tshirt.

(I could not agree with you more!)

H: Who is someone you look up to fashion wise?
W: I love Carrie Underwood, not only is she gorgeous, her outfits always look AMAZING.

H: What is a 1 piece of advice you could offer readers about fashion?
W: Don’t go with the flow, if you like something, rock it because more than likely someone will be copying you VERY soon 😉 All you have to do is be yourself and live the story that no one else can live the story of your own unique life be proud be confident and most of all be happy.

Time to be brave

DSC_0556
Happy Monday Y’all!!! I am so excited to kick off another amazing week and do it with a little Grace and Style! I truly enjoy blogging and talking to you amazing readers and hopefully inspiring you along the way! This week, I thought I would mix it up a little and have a little sit down chat with me! The last few weeks have been needless to say an amazing whirlwind of fun! It has been full of traveling, singing, sharing my heart, photo shoots, loving on family and friends, fashion and becoming a part of an amazing group of girls called the Bleacher Babe Squad who represent Brianna Bigbee the Bleacher Babe and her new business The Bleacher Babe’s Closet. I have found myself a couple times going wow this is an amazing ride and I need to slow down and enjoy every piece of it! At times it does feel a little overwhelming but I take a deep breathe, say a prayer and drink more coffee. I have learned to try and always follow my heart and do what I feel like God wants me to do. We all have a passion and purpose in this life and I feel like mine is to help share kindness, love and inspire those who maybe having a down day or down moment and let them know that no matter what God is for them. I honestly just love people I love watching them and helping them. Everyone has a story and everyone is truly amazing sometimes you just have to look a little harder for it in certain ones but it is there! I started this blog over a year and half ago with the hopes to do just that my heart’s desire and to also help shed light on some amazing and talented women who have a dream, desire and passion for their business, God and fashion. I feel like sometimes media and society right now do not look for the positivity in life and the people in it.They want to sell fear and negativity but that’s another story 😉 haha! We all have this desire to be wanted, to be needed and to be loved and I feel like I have been blessed with the platform and heart to do just that! Today my quote I posted is from the Disney movie Brave… “Our fate lives within us…we only need to be brave enough to see it.” We can all make a difference in this world and sometimes God asks us to take a leap of faith outside of our comfort zones to do just that. He sees what is in us so we in return have to be brave enough to trust in Him and what He wants us to do. That is what I have done or actually trying to do on a daily basis. Here is an example in my life, right now with having my blog and now being a Bleacher Babe Squad member I have opened myself and parts of my life a little more to societies eyes which can being kind of a scary thing because you open yourself to other people’s opinions and thoughts even just through pictures. The best way to fix that hesitation and what I do is I try to tell myself daily to trust the journey I am on, to stay humble and most importantly always be true to who I am and be a light. This all comes from some words of wisdom from my amazing Momma Jo of course, I have been really blessed with amazing people in my life to help me when I am in need. I wanted to share this with y’all because I think it’s important that we all know we are all human, no person is better than the other we all live different lives and have different callings. We all matter and we can most definitely all make a difference in some way, shape or form. Whatever is on your heart deep down that burning dream or that desire to do something, I am here today to encourage you today to do it!! Don’t overthink it because you may rob yourself of a blessing that God is trying to get to you and through you. You will never know where it will lead you to and whose life you may touch. So, let’s all get out there and make a difference if you are supposed to blog then by golly you should blog! If you are supposed to model, then get out there and model! If you are supposed to be a mom, you go be the best mom you can be and be a light to other moms. My point is there is a place for each of us in this world take a leap of faith trust your journey and see what all God has in store for you! So get out there be you, be humble, be brave and be a light and do it all with some Grace and Style!!

Graceful Glance with Janzen Riley Jackson

Today I am coming to you live from a beautiful lake view in Gantt, AL! Let me tell you it is not only gorgeous but oh so peaceful and just what the doctor ordered. Just kidding but Saturday was a nice much needed day off. I hope y’all enjoyed the last Graceful Glance Interview with the beautiful and ever so talented Brooklyn McIntosh and I am excited to continue on with our next talented interviewee! A lot has gone on in the last 2 weeks in my life because I have been blessed with the honor to be 1 of 13 girls selected to be apart of the Bleacher Babe Squad! Which is a bunch of amazing and talented women who blog or have businesses in the western world or lifestyle coming together to make an impact and influence others. We share our fashion tips and tricks, outfit of the days and will also help cover fashion trends going on at this year’s NFR in LasVegas, NV this December! All thanks to the support of ShopBleacherBabe.com (Which will be launching soon so head over and sign up, you won’t want to miss the amazing giveaways!)  I am not only oh so grateful for everything going on and being a part of BBS but I am so honored to get to know 12 other amazing women who have already begun to touch my life in so many ways! It is a bond and a sisterhood that is truly amazing. One of these amazing women is even being featured here tonight!I have got to know this lady in passing and here and there’s and the more I hang around her the more I just think the world of her. She has an amazing funky style with a heart of gold. So with that I am so happy to introduce you to fellow Bleacher Babe Squad member, photographer and fashionista extraordinaire Janzen Riley Jackson!

(Janzen all dressed up and looking cute for a day at the roping supporting her boyfriend Cody)

H: How long have you had your business?
J: I have had my business for 7 years 4 years of them as it being my big girl business.

H: What or who inspired you to start your business?
J: My family they have always pushed me to chase my dreams and also been happy to model for me as I learned how everything worked.

(Wow that is so awesome definitely love having a supportive family too!)

(One of Janzen’s amazing pictures, “Janzen Jackson Photography”)

H: Did you have to seek any advice from anyone to get started?
J: Oh goodness yes. I am a self taught photographer while have a license from a trade school but no fancy bachelors degree here. Thankfully I have been able to meet some amazing photographers a long the way that helped me tremendously and welcomed me with open arms.

(I so love that helping others I think is one of the best things we can offer to others. I know I wouldn’t be where I am at today if it wasn’t for theirs helping me.)

H: Who has been your biggest supporter?
J: My mom. She has helped me financially and emotionally. There were so many times I wanted to hand over my camera and be done because it wasn’t coming easily. She lifted me up and said the best things in life aren’t easy and you have to work to get what you want.

(Thank the Good Lord for mothers!)

(I absolutely love this shot that Janzen took a cactus blooming!)

H: What is your favorite thing about taking pictures?
J: The forever memories that are captured. I have had clients lose loved ones and the photos from weddings, family sessions, etc have been the last photo to remember them by, as well as new parents cherishing the images of their babies. Couples becoming Mr. & Mrs. and so much more. The memories that I capture are what keeps me doing my job.

(A couple more amazing shots Janzen took! Is she not just talented!)

H: What challenges have you faced and how did God help you get through them?
J: When meeting new clients you never know what to expect. What they will be like or how they will handle different situations. I have had to turn down clients because of their out looks on things. God is the center of my business and if it wasn’t for God it would not be what it is today. He has helped me have peace in not taking every job and only the ones that will glorify Him.

H: What is a scripture you stood on or are standing on while building your business?
J: 1 Corinthians 3:11 “For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ” To me it means that I can not build a business on any other foundation but that of Jesus Christ.

(I love this scripture and completely agree with you! If Jesus ain’t in it I probably don’t want to be a part of it! haha!)

H: Do you have something on your heart you would like to share with our readers?
J: I want to let everyone know that it is ok to voice your faith and beliefs even in your business. That is the beauty of our country, and the platform that it was built on. To many people have gotten caught up in a religion or a routine and not standing on the true beliefs in which they believe. Christianity has taken many beatings and much ridiculing over the years so why not take this moment why our country is in such shambles to truly represent it. Not the worlds view of it either the true nitty gritty word of God. Don’t let the worlds view harden you. Companies get applauded for taking the stand against Christianity why not make God happy and take a stand for Him.

(Again I completely agree! Preach on Sista!)

Now let’s talk about fashion!

(How stunning is Janzen in this modeling shot! Plus I completely adore this outfit!)

H: How would you describe your personal style?
J: Its an Old School, Hippie, Free Spirit, Vintage Western style.

H: What is your favorite go to summer outfit or style?
J: A button down Maxi with denim shorts, graphic tank/tee and booties. Layered with turquoise, bolos, and bangles. And Hats! I am a hat hoarder!

(Janzen looking quite stellar headed down the road! Love her earrings!)

H: Do you have any beauty secrets you’d like to share with the readers?
J: Summer is HOT and braids are in big side brides, pig tail braids, fish tails, little accent braids and so many more! It is not so much a secret as it is a trend that I am loving right now.

(Haha yes!! I am a lover and huge fan of braids too!)

H: What’s your fashion weakness?
J: Turquoise is my weakness for sure. But I am an equal shopper to all areas. Can I get that closet that Big built Carrie? So not kidding my clothes are growing and my closet isn’t.

(Janzen and her boyfriend Cody looking amazing for a fun date night!)

H: Who is someone you look up to fashion wise?
J: Oh goodness this is a terribly hard question because there are so many people for different reasons. Iris Apfel because she is just a fashion icon and her accessories are impeccable, Nicole Richie for her easy going hippie vibes, Janis Joplin because she was free in all aspects she rocked trends before they happened, Patsy Cline for her modesty while looking so on point. This list could really go on and on but I will stop here.

H: What is a 1 piece of advice you could offer readers about fashion?
J: Be yourself. Fashion is the ability to express yourself and you should wear what makes you happy. No matter if it is following trends, making trends happen, or being completely off the wall with saying hey this is me!

Haha! Yes you here that ladies and gentlemen Be You! I love it! Thank you so much Janzen for taking the time to be a part of tonight’s Graceful Glance Interview! I hope yall enjoyed this as much as I did! I love learning about people and hearing their stories and Janzen I think has an amazing one! Now y’all can see why I enjoy being around this beauty! No matter where life takes you always be ready to take a leap of faith with a little style and grace! Love Y’all!

Graceful Glance with Brooklyn McIntosh

I am really excited to start this summer’s Graceful Glance interview series!! I believe in lifting others up, sharing their personal story to show how amazing God is in their lives and businesses all while looking fashionably fabulous!! Women empowering other women is so important, because lifting others up and showing their strengths and not their weaknesses is very powerful! My desire and dream is to help encourage and share with the world these amazing and incredible women and their God given talents! So, that we might all learn from each other on how to be strong, fearless and world changers if we simply chose to be!

So with that being said let’s dive into our first interviewee!!! I am beyond excited to share this woman’s story and heart with y’all. I have gotten to know her a little bit through her social media account on Instagram “JunkyJewelz” (be sure and go follow her promise you won’t be disappointed). She has a big heart and pretty sure it is made of gold, she has a desire to help women be who God created them to be! Also I adore her style! During last year’s NFR in Las Vegas, is when I noticed her and her style and fell in love with her funky yet chic style. She is currently in the Weatherford, TX area where her and her husband have Warbonnet Hat Works, Junky Jewelz and raise their precious daughter! So without any further ado let me introduce you to the amazing Brooklyn McIntosh!

H: How long have you had your business?
B:
Well Dan started Warbonnet Hat Works in Nov 2014, but it wasn’t until April of this year that he brought me on to do the majority of the ladies hats.

H: Who inspired you to start your business?
B: Katy Jade Hall has helped motivate me to take women’s hats further than anyone has done so far in that industry, she was our first supporter and she always has a hat on with her funky western style, leading me to think outside the box on all the new hats I create.

(Wow that is is so awesome and so sweet! She does rock an amazing style and I do love her hats!!)

H: Did you have to seek any advice from anyone to get started?
B: Dan has walked me through the whole process of making hats and been very supportive in helping me get started. Most days I’m sure he wants to scream if I ask another question, but he never does.

(What a great husband and support system you have girl!)

(Brooklyn doing her thing and putting those extra special touches on a custom hat)

H: How did you learn to make your jewelry and hats?
B: Dan helped me a lot like I said, but I started making jewelry almost 10 years ago and I really just taught myself. The style of jewelry has changed so much over those 10 years but I try to keep teaching myself new techniques to stay up with the trends and even to create my own.
H: What are 2 of your favorite things in your store right now?

B: Well I don’t get to keep any hats that I make since we are mostly a custom hat shop but one of my favorites that I made was Rachel McGinn’s yellow distressed hat with the beaded hat band. I have been so busy making hats I haven’t had a chance to make any new jewelry in awhile.

IMG_1498 (1)
(Wow I so love this especially paired with the beaded hat band!)

H: What is the best part of your business?

B: Working along side my husband and being able to stay home with our daughter.

H: What challenges have you faced and how did God help you get through them?
B: Sometimes it can be tough to be a mom and have so many projects going on at one time. I just ask God for strength and to remember what’s most important.

(Brooklyn and her beautiful daughter looking amazing and rodeo ready!)

H: What is a scripture you stood on or are standing on while building your business?
B: 2 Cor 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. If you would have told me a few years ago I would be making custom felt hats I would have laughed, but God had a plan. I only needed to have faith and trust Him.

(Haha, He always has plans that make us turn around later and laugh! I agree you though we just need to have faith and trust in Him that He will help us get where we need to be.)
H: Do you have something on your heart that you would like to share with our readers ?

B: I think it’s so important these days to be comfortable with who God made you to be. I think the days in which we live in now girls are always comparing themselves to each other, or trying to be like someone else or bring consumed with how many people likes our photo on gets on social media, or even putting filters on our pictures because we are not comfortable with just being ourselves. This breaks my heart and it’s something I have to check myself daily on. Psalms 139:14 is one of my favorite verses on this subject it says: I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul know etch right well. God made you to be you, He made you just the way you are and He makes no mistakes.

(Brooklyn well put in my books! Exactly what has been on my heart as well we have to know we are enough and through Him all things are possible!)

Now time for some Fashion

H: How would you describe your style?
B: I would say funky yet modest.
H: What is your favorite go to summer outfit or style?
B: I’m loving the long sheer kimonos with shorts, sandals and a tank. It’s way to hot here to add to many layers right now, so no matter what I’ve got to be cool.
(Oh I am totally loving this look as well!!)

H: Do you have any beauty secrets you’d like to share with our readers?

B: A couple of things I’ve learned over the last year are when wearing tee’s always find a small part to tuck in the front of your shorts or pants it’s so much cuter than leaving a shirt hanging. I also think it’s a must to fold a cuff at the bottom of the legs on any skinny jean. That little detail adds so much style.

(Oh yes the tuck and the cuff!!! I totally agree I love both of these details although I am still working on mastering that tuck! haha)

H: What is your fashion weakness?
B: I would say my fashion weakness is makeup I’m just now getting into the whole makeup thing at 29!
H: Who is someone you look up to fashion wise?

B: I have a few people that I love their style and I know I’m not alone in this but I love Katy Jade Hall’s style, Bobbie Tryan and Adrian Brannan to name just a few.

(Most definitely not alone in these areas! All 3 of these women know how to bring and put their own special touches on an outfit and make it simply amazing!)

H: What is 1 piece of advice you could offer readers about fashion?

B: Create your own style don’t always be consumed with being like everyone else. God created you to be you!

I couldn’t agree anymore with that statement and it is like you said something I do have to check myself daily on! Brooklyn thank you so very much for taking the time out of your busy life to be a part of my tonight’s blog! You are truly amazing girl! Ladies and gentlemen I hope you are as inspired as I am with tonight’s blog! Knowing that if you walk by faith and not by sight you can accomplish anything in front of you! Be it insecurities, fashion, dreams, jobs ect. with God ALL things are possible. Brooklyn I believe showed us that tonight as well as encouraged us to be the best version of us we can be! You are enough ladies and gentlemen!! So with that Happy Sunday and may this week bring you many sweet blessings, a whole lot of love and grace, so you can rock that style!!

XO,
Hannah Leigh
